RIP Frederic Hamburg, M.D. — medical marijuana crusader

Dr. Hamburg was so much more than an amazing, trailblazing pediatrician for decades. He changed the way child abuse was handled in the community; he cared deeply for the children he served. His influence in the medical community will be enjoyed for decades to come. He was always on a crusade to help people. His latest crusade was to help those suffering from chronic pain and other debilitating diseases. Through that passion to help others, Dr. Hamburg became a very credible, energetic and passionate supporter of medical marijuana (MMJ). Knowing that it is a plant with much greater benefits, amazingly, than just a significant weapon against opioid abuse, he has often been quoted for his public declaration that "I believe marijuana could be the greatest medical advance since penicillin," and he often told me, "You’ve got to find ways for me to help legalize it now as I may not be around much longer." His service on the Advisory Board for New Approach Missouri, the campaign to legalize MMJ, was invaluable, and he will be sorely missed as we proceed with this campaign. With love for Dr. Fred in our hearts and prayers for his family, Amen to an extremely well-lived life devoted to the suffering masses!
